Best Movies on Netflix Instant to Watch Instantly and a Netflix Review

A list of the Netflix Top Movies - MommyBearMedia.com #netflix

Think it’s hard to find the best movies on Netflix instant streaming? We do too. We think it’s especially hard to find the best rated movies on Netflix. (However, my children watch Netflix TV Shows so much that we barely use our cable anymore.) That’s why we created this list of the best family-friendly movies and Christian movies on Netflix streaming so you can find a the best movies to watch on Netflix to cuddle up and watch. We feel that this list includes some of the best Netflix movies online. We ended up with such a long list that we created a separate post for Netflix TV Shows.

We signed up for Netflix about a year ago and found ourselves asking “What are the best movies on Netflix?” When we first signed up I thought there weren’t very many good, clean family-friendly, popular Netflix movies and thought we would just do it for a month or two until we ran out of movies. Well, it’s on our Roku in our living room and we don’t have normal tv in that room so it’s our children’s only choice so they watch children’s tv shows. You can watch all the Blue’s Clues, Curious George, Backyardigans or Dora episodes as many times as you want in order with no commercials. So if you have children, I would definitely recommend it. They can use the remote because there are pictures so they can see exactly what show they want.

One of the other cool features of Netflix is their recommendations. If you find a movie you like, it will give you suggestions of other movies you might like. That’s how I find most of the movies I like. Now, if you are an adult and want to watch movie after movie every night, I don’t think it’s so good. I think you’re better off finding a TV show to watch because their are not very many quality family-friendly movies for adults. Yes, they have lots and lots of movies but tons of them are movies you’ve never heard of and lots of them are definitely not family-friendly. I am happy with their selection of Christian movies though. They have quite a few of them that I’ve stumbled across. They do throw in a few titles of high quality movies that did well in the theaters but if you want a wide selection of great movies, you’re going to have to do the DVD by mail service.

A neat feature of Netflix is their parent controls. Just click

on Your Account and Help, then under Preferences click on Parental Control Settings. You can then click on what setting you prefer (PG-13 and below, PG and below, etc). A very good and necessary feature.

Another annoying part of Netflix is ever since their last upgrade, when you do a search on Netflix, the results are horrible. It often won’t list what you are looking for. A little trick to get around that is to go to Google or other search engine and type in the name of the movie followed by the word Netflix and it will bring it right up. Go figure.

To help you out, we have compiled a list of the best movies and TV shows that we think are worth watching. We will also update this list over time so please let us know in the comments of other good movies you like or movies on here that should not be.

We had Netflix, but then didn't use it for three months. I then canceled my subscription, but now that it is fall we have been thinking of starting it again. Just still not quite sure because you are right sometimes you get results in a search that aren't great, or it takes them a long time to get the new movies out.

Your list of recommendations is quite extensive, thanks for that. Also, thanks for the tip on improving Netflix searches. Unfortunately, we don't have that simple an option using Netflix through the Wii. The choices on TV are getting worse for family viewing and there are way too many reality shows for our taste. I think we will soon be getting a roku or other smart TV device so we can watch our Netflix and Hulu there.

We really like our Roku. We use it where we don't have cable and it saves us a lot of money. Another trick is to find what you want on the computer and put it in your queue then you can see it all on your Wii.

Thanks for the info – I always struggle to find movies I can watch WITH my seven-year-old. He watches plenty on his own – Phineas and Ferb, Rugrats, Curious George, and many others that I can't recall at the moment. But I don't want to be bored to death when sitting and watching with him, nor do I want him scared or hurt by a movie (Lilo and Stitch had him so upset that he was convulsing) so I usually have to pre-watch something before I can let him see.

I have Netflix streaming thru my Bluray player, and I have nothing but problems with it…the speed sucks, and it stops to buffer like twenty times during a movie or show…and it's directly connected to the highspeed router, so it's not my internet connections…it's Netflix. Worst ever.

I have Netflix, and my kids love it. I was disappointed in the movie selection for the streaming membership, as the new movies require a DVD membership, which I don't want to be bothered with. Otherwise, it is very cost effective. Thanks.

We used Netflix for years. My husband would get the movies in the mail, but now we use the streaming method only. Saves a lot of hassle of having to return the disks.

Your list of recommendations is quite extensive, thanks for that. Also, thanks for the tip on improving Netflix searches. Unfortunately, we don’t have that simple an option using Netflix through the Wii. The choices on TV are getting worse for family viewing and there are way too many reality shows for our taste. I think we will soon be getting a roku or other smart TV device so we can watch our Netflix and Hulu there.

We do use our Roku a lot. Partly because of where it’s at, but it’s also a really, easy simple remote to use and my children can figure it out at a really young age.

We had Netflix, but then didn’t use it for three months. I then canceled my subscription, but now that it is fall we have been thinking of starting it again. Just still not quite sure because you are right sometimes you get results in a search that aren’t great, or it takes them a long time to get the new movies out.

They don’t have the tv show The Goldbergs. They have no good tv shows. Watch The Goldbergs on ABC. My family loves to sit together and watch The Middle, The Goldbergs, and Modern Family on Wednesdays. And Fresh off the Boat on Tuesdays.

Netflix doesn’t have any Chaplin films, One Hitchcock, and a lot of John Wayne which is good but they don’t have his more famous films like Stagecoach and The Searchers.
